Adoration Frequently Asked Questions

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament, in prayer and devotion, is exactly the same as spending time before the living God. Adoration occurs whenever someone kneels in front of the tabernacle, bows before receiving the Blessed Sacrament at Mass, or, in a more focused way, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for adoration. Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. It is the contemplation of the mystery of Christ present before us. During Eucharistic Adoration, we remain silent in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces.

Help! I need a substitute. What do I do?

Please make every effort to find a substitute if you are unable to attend your scheduled Holy Hour. If you are unable to do so, please contact one of your Eucharistic Adoration Coaches.

Can I read in the chapel during my Holy Hour?

Yes, you can read! If you would like additional reading material during your Holy Hour there is a cart just outside the Divine Mercy Chapel, Holy Cards and other material are available in the west end rotunda, and our lending library is in the Parish Office.

Where is Saint Patrick's Eucharistic Adoration Chapel?

Eucharistic Adoration is located in our Divine Mercy Chapel in the west end of the Parish Center.

How can I be a part of Eucharistic Adoration?

We would love to have you be a part of our Eucharistic Adoration program. We welcome participation from all metro area Catholics and beyond. Please stop in or contact our parish office at 362-7966 to sign up as an Adorer or substitute. (We also have an annual sign-up after Masses each fall--check our Bulletins for that date!)

Is Eucharistic Adoration ever cancelled?

If, due to inclement weather, the area schools are running on a delayed start, Eucharistic Adoration will start at noon. If, due to weather, the area schools close early for the day, Eucharistic Adoration is also cancelled to the nearest hour. Please watch or listen to local news broadcasts for updates. In all other cases of questionable weather, someone in the Parish office will determine if Eucharistic Adoration will be cancelled for the day. If so, all affected Adorers will be contacted on that day. Messages will be left on answering machines or voice mail if necessary.

I need a telephone for an emergency. Where can I find one?

There is a telephone located directly behind the Divine Mercy Chapel on the counter between the restrooms. The telephone is there for the Adorers convenience to make sure all the hours are covered, so you can reach your Adoration Coaches or the Parish Office. The phone is also for Emergency use.

When is Eucharistic Adoration Offered?

It is offered from 9:00am - 9:00pm every day of the week.

How do I sign in for my holy hour?

Scheduled adorers and substitutes, please sign in/out in the Daily Sign-In Register located on the shelf on the wall just outside the Divine Mercy Chapel.

Can we request petitions?

Yes, there is a book for petitions just inside the rear entrance of the Divine Mercy Chapel.

Where do I go if severe weather is in the area?

Should you need to seek shelter from a storm the safest place to go is the restrooms directly behind the Divine Mercy Chapel. These restrooms are just a few feet from the Chapel and are interior rooms with no windows.

I can't find my schedule, how do I get another one?

Lost your schedule? Not a problem, stop by or call the Parish Office to request another.
