Friends, peace be with you.
It’s with a heavy heart to inform you that Hannah Schiltz, our parish business manager, has decided to step down from that position. We wish Hannah the best as she begins an exciting new chapter in her life. She will be available for consultation and we hope to hire someone she can train before she leaves sometime in mid May but it does open a need in our parish staff. I understand why Hannah is moving in the direction she is and appreciate the time she gave in parish leadership. She moved our parish fish fries to new heights and helped move along some of our parish plant renovation projects.
We’ll be looking for someone to use their gifts and talents in loving service as Parish Business Manager of St. Patrick’s Parish. Some of the duties associated with this position include being responsible for overseeing the calculation and deposit of the weekly collection, overseeing outside contractors from collecting bids to construction, overseeing parish spending to ensure legitimacy of receipts and adequate cash flow, and other duties as assigned. If you know someone who may be interested in serving the church who has these gifts and talents, please ask them to send a resume and list of three character references to Fr. Dennis Miller, 120 Fifth St. NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405.
On an unrelated note, please join me and Mary Johnston next Saturday, May 4, at 10:00 in the Adult Faith Formation Room to talk about our upcoming pilgrimage to Ireland. Even if you aren’t completely sure that you can go, please come and learn about this beautiful country and all the sights and experiences you could have. I’ve gone on pilgrimage to Israel, Rome, and Ireland and, by far, Ireland was my favorite. The fields are green, the churches are absolutely beautiful, the food is good, and the people are friendly. I hope to see you there.
