Friends
Peace be with you.
Here’s what happened with the calendars. Last year, shortly after I arrived, a delivery driver showed up with several boxes of calendars. I answered the door and let him drop them off inside so we could deal with them later. It was August, after all, and there was plenty of time to do so. I later found out that the company that normally did our calendars needed to get approval of the design before they sent them. They still had Fr. Greg Bahl listed as the pastor and the company listed as sponsors weren’t interested in sponsoring them any longer. We called the calendar company and they claimed that we had approved the design, though they couldn’t produce proof that anyone here had. I know that the staff wouldn’t have approved something with such glaring errors. We told the company that, if this was the way they treated loyal customers, we weren’t going to use them anymore. They seemed fine with that so we parted ways. This past year, there was a change in staff and it fell to Hannah in August to investigate a new company to make the calendars and find a sponsor. She found a company that would be willing to make the calendars but we struggled to find a company to sponsor them. They are a fairly pricey gift but I also know they’re something many people look forward to. We will do our best to make them available again in 2025. In the meantime, I’m going to try to insert a month-long calendar in the bulletin at the end of the previous month with some basic liturgical information in it. I hope it will suffice for this lost year. Sorry for the miscommunication. I kept telling people that I thought it was resolved but it never quite was.
On a more positive note, we are a few weeks away from our annual Lenten Fish fries and the sign ups start this weekend. This is one of those events where we really need “all hands on deck” to get it done and I hope you’ll consider signing up to help. Not only do many hands make light work but it’s more fun if there are more people to talk to and laugh with. This is now our biggest fundraiser of the year and it’s also a great opportunity to build community. I hope you’ll experience how great of a community we can have here at St. Pat’s.
