Funeral Mass for Jan Schumacher

Jan Paul Schumacher, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at his home. Visitation: 5-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., January 31, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery.

Jan Schumacher was born on October 5, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Walter and Kathryn (Otting) Schumacher. Jan and Deb (Wagner) Schumacher have been together for thirty-seven years and married for three years.

Jan served in the United States Navy on the USS Kitty Hawk Aircraft Carrier, during the Vietnam War. He worked with his brother at Schumacher Carpets for many years. Jan was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church. He loved to go on fishing trips in Waterville, Minnesota, and going to the casinos.

Jan is survived by his wife, stepchildren, Jamie (Jackie) Wagner, Brian Wagner, and Michelle (Josh) Daws; step-grandchildren, Brianna (Brock) Luck, Brandon (Nicole) Wagner, Michael Barton, and Mason Daws; siblings, Judy Wilson, Jeff (Kathy) Schumacher, Jeannie (Jim Elliott) Schumacher, Jerry (Jane Roushdi) Schumacher, and Joan Schumacher, and many nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack Schumacher, Jim Schumacher, and Joel Schumacher; brother-in-law, Don Wilson; and sister-in-law, Diane Schumacher.
