"...Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."
John 20:23
First Reconciliation For Young Children
Children usually celebrate their First Reconciliation in the 2nd Grade after they have participated in formal Faith Formation classes. Formation classes are held in the parish Religious Education Program or, if they attend LaSalle Catholic Schools their formation will take place at school. Formation is critical in helping the children understand the necessity of forgiveness of self and others and to internalize the process of examination of conscience.
A child must be in formal Faith Formation classes or attend LaSalle Catholic Schools for at least one (1) year prior to celebrating their First Reconciliation.
Regardless of where formation takes place, First Reconciliation takes place within the parish.
Parent Meeting
Parents will be required to attend a meeting prior to their child/children celebrating their First Reconciliation so that Parish Faith Formation Coordinator can assist parents in helping their child understand forgiveness of self and others. Contact Geralyn Ward ([email protected]) for more information.
Parent/Child Retreat
The Parent/Child Retreat is held prior to the celebration of First Reconciliation. The retreat allows parents and children to deepen their understanding of the sacrament. Attendance by one child and one parent is mandatory. Contact Geralyn Ward ([email protected]) for more information.
First Reconciliation for Adults
Prior to the First Reconciliation for Adults, formation through RCIA is required. Adults will celebrate their frist Reconciliation prior to the Easter Vigil. Contact the Parish Office for more information.
